About the Project

This project started in December 2025 from a very personal place. I felt a strong need to support women in feeling more comfortable and at home in their bodies after mastectomy.

Healing Through Art

What started as a small volunteer initiative has grown into something much bigger.

I created this project because I believe scars are more than marks on the body—they carry stories. While every story is different, many share the same hope: to feel comfortable in their own skin again.

Healing Through Art is a volunteer project where I offer one complimentary scar cover-up tattoo every month. The scar itself doesn’t matter. It may be the result of breast cancer surgery, domestic violence, organ transplantation, an accident, self-harm, or any other life experience. What matters most is the story behind it.

This project isn’t about hiding scars. It’s about transformation, healing, and creating something meaningful together.

I work freehand, drawing every design directly on the skin so it naturally follows the body and the scar. Nothing is prepared in advance—each piece is created specifically for the person wearing it.

Applications are open to everyone. If you would like to be considered, I’d love to hear your story and learn what this tattoo would mean to you. Each month, I personally select one participant based on their individual story and the connection I feel to it.

The project began at LA MAISON Tattoo Studio in Vancouver, where I completed the first volunteer scar cover-ups. As I begin a new chapter in Austin, Texas, I’m proud to continue Healing Through Art there and hope to reach even more people through this project.

Thank you to everyone who has trusted me with something so personal. Every story has stayed with me, and every tattoo reminds me why this project exists.
